Thermo Fleece Sensitive
Our new Thermo Fleece Sensitive range has been designed for people with skin allergies or sensitive skin.
Available in men’s and ladies’ short sleeve styles in natural colour the new for 2024, Thermo Fleece Sensitive are a range of thermals that are the best of both worlds. Imagine all of the benefits of merino wool but it can now be worn by people with even the most sensitive skin.
How do we do it?
How does soft organic cotton against the skin sound? Well, imagine a fabric that has a cotton interior lining on the one side against the skin and soft premium merino wool on the outer layer.
Only the cotton side ever comes in contact with the body, the merino wool side stays away from the skin.
Finally a merino wool base layer for people who find merino wool itchy or uncomfortable.
Over the years we have received thousands of requests from customers, asking for a garment that suits people with sensitive skin. So we asked our R&D department to design an appropriate fabric for this purpose.
They came up with the idea of plating 2 fabrics together, soft allergy-free cotton on the one side and premium merino wool on the other. We loved the idea but we asked them, how this can be achieved as no such knitting machine exists to produce something like this.
After extensive research and development, we finally achieved a truly unique method to bind together two separate fabrics:
100% organic cotton fabric, and
100% fine merino wool fabric
and fuse them together as one.
You may ask, isn’t that too thick, well, what we have managed to do, is make the two cotton and wool fabrics so fine and soft, that when they are joined together as one, the fabric weight is just like a normal mid-weight thermal fabric coming out at approx. 240gsm.
How did we do it?
It’s all quite technical but in a nutshell, we managed to modify some of our existing double-knit machines to be able to knit two separate single-knit fabrics at the same time and then stitch those two fabrics together to become one. Many innovative techniques and custom-made machine parts were made by our engineers and retrofitted in a way that not even the original designers of the knitting machines would have even thought of. We take our hats off to our R&D department for such an outstanding achievement in producing such a unique and niche fabric.
